Additional dates for the Magstim Brain Stimulation Training Course

29 Oct 2008

Additional dates for the Magstim Brain Stimulation Training Course have now been announced.

The response to the TMS Residential course has been much greater than expected, and more courses will be run to accommodate the need.

The first course (10th to 14th January 2009) is now fully subscribed.  Two new course dates have been announced:

·        Saturday 24th January to Wednesday 28th January 2009

·        Saturday 14th February to Wednesday 18th February 2009

More dates will be announced in due course but if you have not registered your interest for a course you would be advised to do so at your earliest convenience; the courses involve intensive teaching and Prof Walsh has had to set a limit to the number of courses he can run.

The Brain Stimulation Training Courses have been designed to be a practical, hands-on introduction to magnetic and electrical stimulation of the human brain. The courses are intended to provide new and existing users of TMS with many of the techniques required to design, execute and analyse TMS/tDCS experiments.

The courses will run over five full days and will include a number of introductory lectures on  aspects of TMS and tDCS as well as other methods of neuro-imaging and navigation. Lectures will be complemented with a minimum of 20 hours practical experience. These practical sessions will consist of a maximum of five groups of two people working with a TMS / tDCS / Navigation set up.

The courses are organised and directed by Professor Vincent Walsh (ICN).  All the latest magnetic (TMS), electrical (tDCS and tACS) stimulation equipment and TMS guided navigation equipment will be provided by Magstim. Practical sessions will be supervised by Professor Walsh together with other experts and on-site technical support and assistance will be provided by Magstim.

The courses are strictly limited to 10 participants, to ensure participants have adequate  time to work effectively in pairs and have sufficient access to equipment and experts throughout each practical session.
